FEBRUARY 2007 Partnership with Naples Chamber Official The partnership between the Downtown Naples Association and The Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce became official January 23. Thank you to all members who attended the meeting January 17 at Bice. As stated during the meeting, the purpose of this partnership is to support the Association’s existing programs and initiatives, expand promotional opportunities for Association members, and provide administrative support to the Association board. Below are a few important facts about the partnership:
February 8th - “Evening on Fifth” – Mardi Gras Celebration Enjoy a night of Mardi Gras fun on Fifth Avenue South, Thursday, February 8th from 6:30 to 9:30. Colorful beads and music provided by a variety of live entertainment will add to the festivities. Howard Alan Events – 3 Year Contract Extension The Downtown Naples Association Board is pleased to announce Howard Allen Events will continue to create and manage our Art Festivals on Fifth Avenue South for the next 3 years.  Information Center – REDUCED advertising prices for DNA membersThe DNA is now offering reduced advertising rates to members for the New Information Center. The Downtown Naples Visitor & Information Center is located at 800 5th Avenue South, suite 103, across from Cambier Park. Updated Member Profiles Needed – Receive Listing on Chamber Web Site It is important we have your current business information – especially e-mail addresses for all persons in your organization that should be receiving Association communication, including this newsletter. Please complete the Member Profile by February 9 and return to Michele Klinowski at Michele@napleschamber.org or via fax: 262-8374. All members who return the profile will receive a listing on The Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce’s web site (www.napleschamber.org) containing business name, contact information and 50-word description. Downtown Parking Garage On Hold – Meeting Scheduled February 21 to Review Options The proposed parking garage at the southeast corner of Fourth Avenue South and Fourth Street South, which was scheduled to be on the Naples City Council’s January 17 agenda for final approval, has been put on hold. Developer Jack Antaramian removed the item from the agenda in early January and is reworking the plan. City officials are continuing to investigate other parking options for 5th Avenue South and will hold a public hearing February 21 at 7:00 p.m. to discuss other options. Please plan to attend this meeting! City Hosts Visioning Meetings For the next several months the City will be undergoing a visioning process. The results of this process will be incorporated into the City's required Comprehensive Plan and will guide the City's capital improvement budget in the coming years. Citizen participation in this visioning process is critical as this is the way the ideas, wishes and needs of the public are identified and the solutions become a reality for the community.
