JUNE 2007 CRA Restructuring Underway In an effort to more effectively manage projects in the downtown area, the City Council recently agreed to move forward with a new search process for an executive director of the city’s Community Redevelopment Agency. The new director would answer directly to the CRA and work closely with the CRA’s board of directors with the goal of expediting much needed improvements such as a new parking garage, lighting along Fifth Avenue South and 10th Street North improvements. This new direction is endorsed by the Downtown Naples Association and the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce. Quarterly Marketing Report – NEW! One of the new initiatives being undertaken by DNA staff is a quarterly marketing update outlining promotional activities and opportunities available to DNA members. Please take a few moments to review the first marketing report – we welcome your feedback. Information Center Welcoming 100 Visitors Daily! The Downtown Naples Information Center is proving to be a valuable community resource. Open for less than three months, staff reports that more than 100 people are visiting the Information Center each day. Also an effective marketing resource, limited advertising opportunities remain – contact Michele Klinowski at 298-7932 to learn more. Taste of Collier Huge Success By all media and attendee accounts, the 24th annual Taste of Collier has found a fabulous new home at Bayfront. Moving from its long-time location along Third Street South, the area’s popular food festival was held May 6 at Bayfront and officials report 28 participating restaurants, more than 6,000 attendees, and $45,000 raised for charity. Extensive pre- and post-event media coverage added to the event’s success. Next year’s Taste of Collier will again be held at Bayfront on May 4.
