New Board Members Appointed

The Downtown Naples Association held its first board of directors meeting July 9, after becoming officially affiliated with The Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce on June 4. The first item of business was to expand the board of directors to include additional business leaders from all downtown areas including Fifth Avenue South, Bayfront, Tin City, Crayton Cove, 41-10 and Third Street South.

The new DNA board of directors consists of: Scot Congress of Congress Jewelers as chairman; Ron Brodeur of Brodeur & Carvell; John Callis of BP Financial; John Clark of American Momentum Bank; Rob Crisp of Mona Vie; Vin Depasquale of the Dock, Inc.; Marilyn Elwood; Rainer Filthauat of German American Business Chamber; Charlene Greenblatt of Colliers Arnold International; Rich Grimes of Brompton Road Partners; Jacques Groenteman of John R. Wood Realtor; Burt Hartington of Marissa Collections; Gloria Kovac of Name Game; Matthew Kragh of Architectural Network; Paul and Kathy Lindabury; Margie McGlynn of Bellasera Hotel; Jean Rawson – Attorney; Tony Ridgway of Tony’s Off Third; Rick Rinella of Truluck’s; Alan Ryker; Sal Sinzieri of Bice Ristorante; Randy Smith of Naples Transportation, Tours & Events Planning; Sal Tenaglia of Regina’s Ice Cream; Lou Vlasho of Vergina’s; Roger Weatherburn of The Weatherburn Gallery; and Don York of Shamrock Bank of Florida.

“This new affiliation with The Chamber is providing a platform where the downtown area can expand its influence on the development of the area and provide more and enhanced venues to reach customers and residents,” said Chairman Scot Congress. “The additional staff support of The Chamber will increase our reach into the community.”



Marketing and Membership Committees Formed

Telling the world about all of the offerings in Downtown Naples is the mission of the newly formed Marketing Committee. With the assistance of Paradise Advertising & Marketing, which has agreed to assist the DNA on a pro bono basis, the Marketing Committee will work to formulate a branding campaign, targeting both residents and visitors, for downtown Naples. Paradise is very familiar with the Naples area and currently provides advertising services for the Collier County Convention & Visitors Bureau, The Inn on Fifth, American Momentum Bank, and the Ft. Myers Airport. There are currently two open seats on the committee; interested members should contact Michele Klinowski at 298-7932.

The new marketing committee consists of: Charlene Greenblatt of Colliers Arnold International; Cathy Christopher of The Inn on Fifth; Lou Vlasho of Verginas; Debi DiBenedetto of the CVB; Kevin Stoneburner of Stoneburner Companies; Clint Arlington of Paradise Advertising & Marketing; Cheryl Deering of Sterling Properties; Maurica Hurley of Gannett and Sal Sinzieri of Bice.



Membership Committee

A great Membership Committee has been formed representing the diversified group of businesses that are current DNA Members. The committee’s goal and priority is to improve and strengthen the current benefits of membership, and gain new members.

The new Membership committee consists of: Marie McGlynn of Bellasara; Blase Ciabaton of Naples Print Source; Colleen Giresi (Naples Transportation & Tours); Rob De Castro of Lemon Tree Inn and Beth Snoke of the French Quarter.



Advertising Opportunity: 2008 Downtown Naples Association Guide

CurtCo Publishing, the producer of local magazines Gulfshore Life and Gulfshore Business, has agreed to produce the 2008 Downtown Naples Association Annual Guide. As part of the new agreement, all advertisers will receive complimentary web advertising on Gulfshore Life's website, which is also produced by CurtCo Publishing. Existing advertisers will receive first right of refusal on their advertising position in the 2008 guide. See attached for more details.



Upcoming Events

August 9: Evening on Fifth, 6:30-9:30pm, “Hot Summer Nights”

August 28th: Dinner & Movie - Sugden Theater…a major classic movie “Music Man”, and fabulous food provided by some of our member restaurants! Presented in cooperation with The Senior Friendship Centers Collier, which will share in the proceeds!

September 13: Evening of Fifth, 6:30-9:30pm,“Girls Night Out” As the theme indicates, it’s all about the girls! If you wish to consider offering a special of any kind, please let us know…we will list all participating merchants in our Naples Daily News ad for the event!
