NOVEMBER 2006
Upcoming Events: November & December
Don’t miss any of the action on Fifth Avenue South this holiday season – click
here for the calendar of events.
New Name. New Members. New Beginnings.
Welcome to the Downtown Naples Association! As a member of this dynamic organization,
we want to keep you informed of all the exciting news and events in the coming
months. We’ve changed our name to better represent the downtown area and establish
it as Naples’ premier destination.
We extend a big welcome to the Bayfront and 41-10 Associations, which will officially
become part of our organization at the November 15 membership meeting, scheduled
from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Vergina’s. The merging of the three associations represents
a five-mile area and approximately 210 members in Crayton Cove, Tin City, Bayfront,
Renaissance Village, Fifth Avenue South, Third Street South and portions of U.S.
41 and 10th Street. We are working closely with the City of Naples to implement
new services that will benefit the entire downtown area and ensure a successful
future. Together, the possibilities and choices we can offer to residents and
visitors alike are endless!
Each month, you will receive the Member Messenger, intended to let you know all
the latest information regarding Association and City issues, as well as upcoming
events and new members. We encourage you to send us stories ideas and welcome
your feedback.
Downtown Information Center Opening January
2007, Advertising Opportunities Now Available
The Downtown Naples Association will open its much anticipated Visitor & Information
Center in January 2007. The 1,100-square foot building, located at 800 Fifth
Avenue South, is currently undergoing renovation. Upon completion, the facility
will be a one-stop resource for visitors and residents seeking information about
downtown Naples. In addition to offering brochures, maps, and event schedules,
the Information Center will be staffed with a full time representative to answer
questions and provide concierge services.
Association members have the exclusive opportunity to be a part of the
new Information Center through a variety of sponsorship packages and advertising
programs. Click
here to view the media kit or contact Diana Kelly for more information.
New Downtown Naples Ad Makes Debut
Downtown Naples’ new advertising campaign kicks off in November with a 12-page
section in Gulfshore Life magazine. The Association’s new ad, created
by Absher Design Group, touts the area’s historical significance, as well as
its promising future. Click
here to view the new ad, which will be seen all over town including the
Association’s 2007 directory, Naples Daily News, Coastal Elegance, Premier
Homes & Estates, Must Do Downtown magazine, and Naples Trolley guide.
October Arts & Stone Crab Festival a
Success

They came from near and far to view magnificent art, listen to live music, and
eat stone crabs! The 8th Annual Downtown Naples Art Festival, held Oct 21-22,
was a huge success! Thanks to Howard Alan Events and all of the sponsors, vendors
and volunteers!
Start preparing for the next art festival, which will be held December 30-31 – let’s
start the new year with a bang!
Public Meeting Scheduled for Pedestrian & Bicycle
Paths
The City of Naples has contracted with a traffic consulting firm to undertake
a study which will result in a recommended network of pedestrian and bicycle
pathways throughout Naples and Collier County. This network would enable people
to walk or ride their bikes safely to our downtown destinations. This will save
parking spaces for others coming from greater distances and provide the attraction
of vitality that only this type of activity inspires. The City is hosting a series
of three public input meetings – the next one is scheduled December 7, 5:00-7:00pm
at the Norris Center. Please plan to attend and convey the importance of downtown
Naples being included in this network.
Co-op Advertising Opportunity in 2007
CVB Visitors Guide
The Association has secured a two-page spread on pages 4-5 of the Naples, Marco
Island, & Everglades Convention & Visitors Bureau’ 2007 Visitors Guide. This
is the primary piece the CVB uses to respond to the thousands of inquiries generated
by their multimillion-dollar advertising and promotional programs.
Co-op ad spaces are available to members for less than 50% of the standard display
rates normally charged for this annual publication. The deadline to participate
is Nov 24, however space is limited and will be offered on a first come,
first served basis. For more information and prices, please contact John Criswell
with Miles Media at 1-800-683-0010, ext 2337 or at John.Criswell@milesmedia.com

- The best day you’ve ever had at work: In 35 years, I’ve had
lots of ‘best days,” but among the most memorable was the celebration
of the Dock’s 20th anniversary in 1996. So many people came forward
then to express their appreciation for what we’d created, and
to let us know that they believe we’re an important part of what
makes Naples great. At that moment, I realized that by doing
what I do as best I can, I was making a difference for our community – and
that was incredibly satisfying.
