November 12th, 2021. Naples, FL. Rebellion is inevitable in Matilda JR, Roald Dahl’s gleefully witty ode to the anarchy of childhood and the power of imagination! From December 10 – 19, Matilda JR is on stage in the Tobye Studio Theater at The Naples Players. The story follows a young girl, who dreams of a better life, and the children she inspires.  This performance will have audiences rooting for the “revolting children” who are out to teach grown-ups a lesson. 

Matilda (Daniella Flom) has astonishing intelligence and special powers.  She is unloved by her cruel parents (Victoria Rinaldi and Braxton Cabrera) but impresses her schoolteacher, Miss Honey (Sophia Condit). Matilda’s school life is not smooth sailing as the school’s mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull (Ciaran Welch) hates children. 

The Naples Players CEO/Artistic Director, Bryce Alexander, says, “Matilda is a very fitting play for our KidzAct students to share with the community. Matilda is searching for a place to belong, and finds it among stacks of books brought to life by a caring teacher. TNP strives to be that special place for each one of our students, and we are excited to share the talent of our students and the spirit of our programs with our audience.”
