Naples, FL (July 21, 2022) – Over the next few weeks, the City of Naples Fire-Rescue crews will be flushing and inspecting fire hydrants throughout the city. This project is part of the Fire-Rescue Department’s routine hydrant maintenance program. Hydrant flushing helps to maintain the integrity of the water distribution system by removing sediments and to assure that the hydrants are working properly. The fire hydrant testing and maintenance includes capturing flow information, flushing of the fire hydrant and line, cleaning, marking, and documenting any inefficiencies found. This program is required for the City of Naples Fire-Rescue Department to maintain our ISO Class One rating while also aiding Fire-Rescue crews with area familiarization.
