Fifth Avenue South January Events Announced

NAPLES, Fla. (December 26, 2014) – The 5th Avenue South Business Improvement District is thrilled to announce its January calendar of events planned along Naples’ historic 5th Avenue South. The events scheduled are as follows:
5th Avenue South will host the Downtown Naples New Year’s Art Fair on Friday, January 3 and Saturday, January 4 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from 3rd Street to 9th Street South and on Park Street from 5th Avenue South to 7th Avenue South. Businesses along 5th Avenue South and side streets will also hold sidewalk sales in conjunction with this exciting annual event. Event entertainment is being provided throughout the event as well.
Evening on 5th will take place on Thursday, January 8 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and will feature an array of live musical performances throughout the sidewalk areas of 5th Avenue South. The night will also include fabulous dining, and the opportunity to explore the distinct boutiques, shops, and galleries that span from 9th Street to 3rd Street. Whether you want to relax with friends at dinner or dessert, or dance with your favorite entertainers, you won’t want to miss this event.
The Naples Artcrafters Fine Art and Craft Show will take place on Saturday, January 10 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in beautiful Cambier Park, one block south of 5th Avenue South. Established in 1967, the Naples Artcrafters is a non-profit organization that is committed to promoting excellence in arts and crafts and to supporting established artists, craftspersons and students by providing a venue for the display and sale of their work in a beautiful setting. At this monthly show you will find original and handcrafted paintings, drawings, pastels, scissors art, multi-media and collage, photography, ceramics, jewelry, stained glass and fused glass, wood turning and carving, and much more.
5th Avenue South is pleased to host Naples’ annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade on Monday, January 19. The parade will start at 11:00 a.m. and will follow the traditional parade route beginning at Broad Avenue South and 3rd Street South before making its way to 5th Avenue South. The parade will end with a celebration at Cambier Park on 8th Street South. Sponsored by The Pelican Bay Rotary Club, Chalk Art 2015 is a “Street Painting Extravaganza” where artists, including children, students, and professionals, use only chalk to create original art in the individual spaces along 5th Avenue South and Park Street. Join over 5,000 spectators on Saturday, January 24 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and watch as 5th Avenue South is transformed into a huge, color-splashed canvas. In conjunction with Chalk Art, participating businesses along 5th Avenue South and side streets will hold sidewalk sales, food and beverages will be available for purchase, and live entertainment will be provided. 5th Avenue South will be blocked to traffic for this event.
