MARY MARTIN GALLERY FEATURES “Color Them Wonderful”- New Works by Bob Ichter at Mary Martin Gallery
March 10, 2016
Mary Martin Gallery is pleased to announce that Bob Ichter will be in attendance as the featured artist for their show “Color Them Wonderful”. The public is invited to the opening reception on the evening of March 25th from 5 pm to 9 pm.
Bob Ichter is best known for his brilliantly colored, stylized landscapes in pastel on suede and abstract oil and acrylics on canvas. His color-saturated landscapes convey his passion for the beauty of nature and his intense abstract works show his depth of imagination and spontaneity. Ichter’s signature style has been developed over an almost thirty-year career in painting. In all of his work, intense competing colors co-exist harmoniously and create a sense of lush, vibrant and idyllic natural world. The beauty he is able to capture has not gone unnoticed as his work can be found in the corporate collections of the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Atlanta and the Coca-Cola Company, and in the private collections of Tim Allen and Kenny Rodgers.
Of his work, Bob says, “I started my career as a watercolorist, but eager for new challenges I started experimenting with large scale abstracts, and then pastels on suede. Over the years I completed hundreds of paintings. Years later, I started revisiting watercolors and abstract work on canvas and plexiglass, as well as acrylic paintings layered in resin. My first watercolors were of fish.
Some might say I’ve come full circle, but to me it’s more like full helix. I am back at a beginning, but with all of the experiences of the last 25 years. My pastel work has definitely influenced this new body of paintings, because, as always, it’s all about color and composition. I love everything about this kind of work. The scale, the colors, the ability to paint from light to dark and then dark to light, the unique materials and chemicals I add to the paint, the balance between technique and passion. For me these are examples of abstract expressionism and studied spontaneity.”
“Color Them Wonderful” will be on display through the end of March. Call ahead to reserve pieces.
