Naples Celebrates the Holidays on 5th Avenue South

NAPLES, Fla. (November 16, 2015) – The 5th Avenue South Business Improvement District is pleased to announce the list of holiday events scheduled along 5th Avenue South in December. These treasured annual events include the 41st annual Christmas Walk & Tree Lighting Ceremony, the Christmas Parade, Rockin’ & Shoppin’ Evening on 5th, TUBA Christmas, New Year’s Eve Fireworks, and more!
The 41st annual Christmas Walk & Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place on Thursday, December 3, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This momentous Naples’ holiday tradition will commence with holiday performances, the lighting of the majestic Christmas tree by Mayor John Sorey, and a visit from Santa himself! The evening will also include holiday performances and activities by local schools, dance troupes, church choirs, and area performers all along 5th Avenue South from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Restaurants, shops, and businesses along 5th Avenue South and adjoining streets will be open for shopping, dining, and holiday cheer. 5th Avenue South will be blocked to traffic for this event starting at 2:00 p.m.
The City of Naples’ annual Christmas Parade will take place on Tuesday, December 8 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. along historic 5th Avenue South. The parade route will begin on Broad Street South, go north on 3rd Street South, turn east onto 5th Avenue South and then finish on 8th Street South. Join thousands of Naples residents and visitors for this traditional holiday event on 5th Avenue South. The night will include the parade with dozens of dazzling floats, live music, children’s activities, and more! And, don’t forget to enjoy the fabulous restaurants and holiday shopping at the distinct boutiques, shops, and galleries that span from 9th Street to 3rd Street. 5th Avenue South will be blocked to traffic for this event starting at 4:00 p.m.
Rockin’ and Shoppin’ for the Holidays on 5th will take place on Thursday, December 10 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. This special Evening on 5th will allow attendees to begin – or finish up – their holiday shopping at the many distinct boutiques, shops, and galleries that span from 9th Street to 3rd Street, all while enjoying an array of live musical performances throughout the sidewalk areas of 5th Avenue South and its treasured side streets. There will also be extraordinary dining opportunities.
The Naples’ Concert Band’s 20th Annual TUBA Christmas will take place on Thursday, December 17 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the Sugden Plaza. This exciting special performance will include over 40 musicians and feature tubas, euphoniums, baritone, and more! Additional happenings include a proclamation from Mayor John Sorey; and prizes for best, most interesting, funniest, and seasonal costumes on the musicians.

The City of Naples Annual New Year’s Eve Fireworks will take place on Thursday, December 31 from 7:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Naples Pier. Guests are encouraged to enjoy the fireworks from one of the many outdoor dining locales along 5th Avenue South or to dine and then stroll down to the newly renovated Pier to enjoy the fireworks after.
For each of these events, free parking is available in the two public garages on 8th Street, in the public lots on Park Street and 8th Street South along 5th Avenue South Parkway, and in spaces surrounding Cambier Park. Valet is also available daily after 5:00 p.m. During the 5th Avenue Christmas Walk & Tree Lighting on December 3rd, Old Naples, Third Street South and Crayton Cove may be accessed by traveling 9th Street and Central Avenue.
